Most partial meniscectomy patients are off crutches within a few days and weight-bearing as tolerated from the day of surgery. The Four-Week Pain Profile study reported median NRS of 3 on the day of surgery falling to 2 by day three. Pain is usually well-controlled with paracetamol and a short anti-inflammatory course; opioids past day three are uncommon for meniscectomy.
Meniscus repair is different. Most protocols use a brace and limit weight-bearing for the first one to two weeks. The pain trajectory is similar — most repair patients report low pain after the first few days — but the constraint is mechanical rather than symptomatic.
Swelling is the dominant complaint at the end of week one. Cryotherapy and elevation are the only interventions with consistent evidence; arnica, compression sleeves, and the like are not.

After partial meniscectomy, weight goes on fast
Rehab standards put full weight bearing at a mean of 0.6 weeks after partial meniscectomy — immediately to about a week. A repair is a different timeline (see week 4).
